As part of its annual planning process, NHS Dorset recently reviewed the Post Covid (Long Covid) service available in Dorset for people with Post-Covid Syndrome (PCS) and considered how our local population could best access the help they need.
Through this work, it was identified that there is still a service need for those struggling to manage with their post-viral symptoms.
It was also recognised that the need had changed since the pandemic with fewer referrals and different type of needs, as symptoms of PCS were changing.
NHS Dorset has worked with Dorset HealthCare, as the service provider, to jointly develop and agree a delivery model based on current evidence and user feedback which best meets the needs of those with PCS.
People will be supported with a service based on their needs including, for example, problems with fatigue management, respiratory problems, brain fog. This includes a range of self-management tools available for all at www.dorsethealthcare.nhs.uk/postcovid
A communication and engagement plan has been developed and all service users are receiving updates around their care and the future service model.
