We are aware that some Dorset pharmacies are temporarily closed. This may affect the way you normally collect or receive your medication.

We understand these closures may be causing you some concern, and we are working with the affected pharmacies to restore normal services.

In the meantime, we've pulled together some alternative options to help you get your medication. Please allow plenty of extra time when ordering your medications to ensure you have what you need when you need it.

Change your chosen pharmacy through the NHS app

You can change the pharmacy you usually get your medication from through the NHS app. Once you've done this, your medications will be sent to whichever pharmacy you choose. You can change it back again at any time.

  • Log in using the NHS app on your phone, or online at nhsapp.service.nhs.uk

  • Select 'View and manage prescriptions'

  • Select 'Your chosen pharmacy'. You'll see the name and details of your current pharmacy. To change it, select 'Change your chosen pharmacy'

  • Follow the instructions to choose your new pharmacy

Use an online pharmacy

There are lots of pharmacies online that will deliver your prescriptions to you at home free of charge.

The NHS website has a list of online pharmacies for you to choose from.

Printed prescriptions from your GP practice

If you are unable to travel or access digital services, your GP practice can print your prescription so a family member or carer can collect it and take it to a different pharmacy to be filled.

Find a local pharmacy for advice and over the counter medicines

Many pharmacies can help with advice and over the counter medicines for mild conditions without needing a GP appointment. To find out more about pharmacy services in Dorset visit staywelldorset.nhs.uk/options/pharmacy.
