As holidaymakers head to Dorset’s scenic coastlines this Easter, NHS Dorset is asking people to prepare ahead so they can enjoy their time and get the right care if they need it.

Knowing where to turn for advice and support can make all the difference to having a good holiday.

Dr Paul Johnson, Chief Medical Officer at NHS Dorset, has some tips for people visiting the south coast this April:

“Firstly, make sure you have packed all your medications to last your whole stay. Local pharmacies will be open for shorter hours during the bank holiday weekend. Even though you’re away on holiday, don’t wait to seek help. If you are feeling unwell during your stay here and are unsure who can help, call 111 or go on the 111 online website to get guidance.

“By using services like NHS 111 and a local pharmacy you’re helping to keep emergency services free for those who truly need them. For mental health support, call Connection on 0800 652 0190 which is available 24/7, even over the bank holiday weekend.

“Lastly, if you’re experiencing a life-threatening injury or illness, do not delay in calling 999 or A&E. Thank you for using our services responsibly and enjoy your holidays.”
