People are invited to a monthly wellness walk-in event organised by Blandford Group Practice where they can have their cholesterol and blood pressure checked, learn about local services and enjoy a hot drink.

The social prescribing team in Blandford have been collaborating with other local health and wellbeing services to bring this to the community.

The next event will be at the Corn Exchange, Blandford, Tuesday 27th February 2024, 10am – 12pm.

Sara Stringer, Social Prescribing, Health Champions, Veterans and Wellbeing Team Manager said,

“For our January clinic we had an amazing turn out from services and the local community. We had 113 members of public attend, which is a record.

“We had 25 stall holders join us to share what is on offer and the support that people can receive.

“With services such as Dorset Waste with their smoothie making bike! Livewell Dorset, Aster Living, Alzheimer’s society, Reach, Paragon, Help and Care, along with our surgery Wellbeing Team, and so many more.

“A huge hit for these clinics is our cholesterol and blood pressure checks that we offer. These are offered to anyone that attends, and they don’t have to be a patient at Blandford Group Practice.”

After February’s event, from March to June 2024, the events will be held at The Sealy Suite in the Crown. From July onwards the team will be doing pop ups in the local villages.  For more information visit the Blandford Group Practice website, like their (6) Facebook page or ask a member of the team.
