Walk-in clinics and community outreach is making it easier than ever to get protected from COVID-19.
As families enjoy the Easter break, the NHS in Dorset is encouraging those most at risk from COVID-19 to come forward for their spring vaccination. Eligible groups include people aged 75 and over and those with weakened immune systems. This can include children and young people.
Vaccinations are available through some general practice surgeries, at various pharmacies and a growing network of walk-in clinics across Dorset. People who are registered as housebound and care home residents will continue to be vaccinated at home or on-site.
Holly Wentworth, Lead Vaccination Nurse at Dorset HealthCare, has been running many of the vaccination clinics out in local communities. She said:
“This spring, it’s so important for those at risk to come forward for their COVID-19 vaccinations. For the vaccinations to work effectively, people must stay on track and have the vaccination every time they are invited to. This is currently every spring and autumn.
“For those who can’t visit their local GP or pharmacy, we offer clinics in places like community centres, churches, cafés, and even at events like pub quiz nights. This makes it easier for everyone, especially those who find it hard to travel to get vaccinated. If you’re part of a local group and think this could help your area, let us know and we can come to you.
“Drop in to one of the walk-in vaccination clinics this Easter holidays and for the whole of April. There is no need to book. If you have any questions about the vaccine, we’re here to help you make an informed choice.”
