NHS Dorset ICB has partnered with Luscii as part of its plans to put people at the heart of care, improving online access and simplifying digital tools through a hybrid model of face-to-face and remote care.
This collaboration reflects feedback from Dorset’s Digital Public Engagement Group and wider community engagement, while also aligning with the NHS’s broader objectives of shifting from illness to prevention, hospital to community, and analogue to digital, as outlined in the government’s 2025 mandate to NHS England.
Providing people with tools to better understand and track their health is essential to empowering patients. When this information is shared with their clinical teams, it supports a more proactive and personalised approach to care. By enabling earlier identification of issues and reducing unnecessary hospital admissions, remote monitoring becomes a vital enabler of this transformation.
Luscii’s digital-enabled hybrid models of care will help to:
- Improve patient experience by empowering people to manage their health and wellbeing, while staying connected to their clinical and care teams in real time.
- Free up valuable clinician time by using patient-generated data to support more efficient decision-making and prioritise face-to-face care where it’s needed most.
As the NHS continues its digital transformation journey, Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) across the UK are looking for scalable solutions that enhance efficiency while improving patient access to healthcare. Dorset is at the forefront of this change, embracing a Hybrid Model of Care (HMoC) that combines traditional face-to-face care with digital solutions to improve accessibility, self-management, and clinical decision-making.
A proven approach to digital health
This partnership builds on an established relationship, as Dorset has been working with OMRON—Luscii’s parent company—since 2020 to support its BP@Home model for hypertension screening and management through a hybrid approach to care.
This collaboration between the NHS and industry has delivered significant clinical improvements and enhanced primary care productivity, even during times of workforce pressure, by empowering patients to take an active role in managing their health.
Notably, the platform has delivered a 71% cost saving, largely due to workforce reallocation, and a 63% reduction in appointments—further improving efficiency and accessibility in hypertension management.
By integrating Luscii’s remote monitoring capabilities, this partnership will build on that success, offering a scalable, ICS-wide solution that supports both primary and secondary care settings.
“We are absolutely delighted to be supporting Dorset on its ICS-wide commitment to digitising healthcare,” said Jonathan Lewis, Managing Director, Luscii UK. “The Dorset ICS has a clear vision to improve care across the entire patient journey—from prevention through to acute care. Scaling remote monitoring is key to making this a reality, and we are committed to long-term partnerships that create real, lasting change.”
Dr. Martin Longley, Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Clinical Lead and Associate Medical Director for Dorset County Hospital, added:
“Digital innovation is central to the future and sustainability of our health and care services in Dorset. Taking a hybrid approach where the patient is in true partnership with their health and care services allows us to provide and respond in a more personalised, proactive way while ensuring our services remain efficient and accessible. This is a major step forward in our commitment to empowering both patients and clinicians with smarter digital health solutions.”
Next steps in Dorset’s digital healthcare journey
Hybrid models of care powered by Luscii are currently in development across cardiology and respiratory services, spanning primary, community, and acute care settings. The design of these services has been shaped through extensive public engagement to ensure they meet the needs and expectations of both patients and healthcare professionals. The phased rollout began on 1 April 2025, supported by a comprehensive communications plan to promote understanding and effective use of the technology.
