It looks like the summer weather is arriving this weekend with high temperatures forecast across the south west.

But whether you are spending it in your back garden, visiting the beach or a music event or just relaxing with friends – please take care of yourself.

If you are going out in the sun remember to wear sun screen of at least factor 30 and keep topping it up during the day. Avoid being in direct sunlight between 11am and 3pm if you can and wear a hat and sunglasses to protect your head and eyes.

Make sure you drink plenty throughout the day to avoid dehydration. Babies and children are more at risk of dehydration than adults so make sure you keep an eye on them.

If you have concerns about your child’s health visit what0-18.nhs.uk for help and advice.

Follow the latest COVID-19 guidance

COVID-19 restrictions have ended but cases are rising, and we are still living with the virus. If you feel unwell or you have tested positive for COVID-19, you should stay home and avoid contact with other people.

We can all take some simple steps when we’re out and about to reduce the spread of illnesses:

  • Keep windows open and get plenty of fresh air
  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Cover coughs and sneezes, bin your tissues and wash your hands afterwards
  • Wear a face covering in crowded or enclosed spaces
