Health partners in Dorset are asking people to play their part in limiting the spread of Norovirus in the community.

Norovirus, also called the “winter vomiting bug”, is a stomach bug that causes vomiting and diarrhoea. It can be very unpleasant, but usually goes away in about 2 days.

Please do not visit hospital if you have symptoms or diarrhoea and / or vomiting within the last 48 hours or have been in contact with someone who has.

If you have a non-urgent appointment please reschedule if possible, or if that is not possible, please call in advance of attending to inform staff you are unwell.

If you are visiting a patient, please wash your hands with soap and water on the ward before and after your visit.

More information on symptoms and what to do if you are affected can be found on the NHS England website – https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/norovirus/.
