David Freeman, Deputy Chief Executive Officer for NHS Dorset ICB, said:
“End of life care services support people and their families at some of the most distressing and difficult times they will ever face. We recognise the importance of supporting as many people as possible to access the care and support they need, where they need it, as they approach the end of their life. That is why we are currently reviewing how we commission end of life care services to best meet the needs of people in Dorset. This work includes talking to patients, providers, staff and reviewing national best practice. Once this work is completed, we will have a clearer picture of how services are funded in the future. As of now, we can confirm that no final decisions have been made on how this will be delivered and funded.”
