A patient has said thanks to Puddletown Surgery by funding new outdoor seating. The patient sent the donation in gratitude for the way they supported her husband while he received palliative care at home.

Clare Strickland, Practice Manager said “I received a call from a patient to thank the surgery team for the help they’d given her husband while he was being cared for at home. She told me the staff were very compassionate and it felt more like family members were coming to visit, which was really appreciated.

“The patient told me she made a promise to her husband that she’d do something for the staff to recognise their kindness. We were very grateful for the offer and had just been talking about the need for a new outdoor bench as the old one was very well used but had recently broken. We suggested a contribution towards a new bench as it would be something all staff would benefit from.

“The seating is a game changer for us, we use it every day when it’s not raining, enabling staff to take wellbeing breaks and different team members to talk to each other.

“The Patient Participation Group (PPG) were delighted to hear of the donation at a recent meeting and echoed their gratitude for the surgery staff. The group are also working with the surgery to develop initiatives that will benefit both patients and the practice and new members are always welcome. Our next PPG meeting is on Wednesday 20 September, please get in touch if you’d like to join in.”
