In March 2025, The Cranborne Practice started developing the new community garden at their Lake Road Surgery site by transforming an area behind the surgery into a peaceful retreat for patients and staff.

The garden, which creates a serene outdoor space where patients and staff from the local GP surgery can unwind, includes a seating area and a memorial bench dedicated to their pharmacist, Stephen, who passed away suddenly last year. A picnic table, purchased using generous donations received during the COVID pandemic, has also been installed.

The practice put the word out to the local community for their assistance in creating the garden, and Dr Nikki Scott led a team of volunteers at an initial planting session of seasonal blooms, native plants, and fragrant herbs.

With the continued help of volunteer gardeners and donations of plants and materials by organisations and individuals, it is hoped that the garden will continue to offer a space to reflect and recharge.

Donations of gardening materials, services, plants and, of course, the help of green-fingered volunteer gardeners will contribute directly to the growth and sustainability of a community space where patients and staff can rest, relax, reflect and remember.
