If you could think back to before you used the app, how were you managing your diabetes before?

I don’t want to admit it but my control was non existent. Now, I’ve dropped my HbA1c by 40 points! That’s 99% thanks to the app. Plus, for a while I improved my type 1 diabetes to the point that every medical professional discharged me from my diabetes care (which, of course, meant that I spiralled out of control again after my surgery).

Using my mhealth app has had a profound effect and is responsible for me regaining control at last. While not perfect, it’s a million times better. This app helps you control your diabetes where everything else has failed.

How do you feel your management of diabetes has changed since having access to the app?

I find that stress makes my sugar spike – this is a stressful time of the year with surgery and other problems. So using this app has helped alleviate that issue. It has helped me learn how to decide what to eat and in what quantity. But it also helps alleviate my panic attacks. So my sugars are lower as a result. If I’m puzzled by anything, as a general rule, I will look up the information on the app, which is packed with information before I will try to contact the doctor. I have to say the staff at my mhealth are beyond amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for them.

How likely are you to keep using the app to self-manage your condition?

I recommend it to everyone. It’s this – and this only – that has helped me regain control.

Would you recommended the app?

I recommend it at least 20 times a day. No exaggeration.

What would your advice be to any one else living with diabetes who could get access to the app?

Take your time and really explore the tiles. Everyone gets something different out of it but it is so easy to learn to adapt it to suit it to your own needs.
