People will then need to obtain their supply of gluten-free foods from a food shop, either in-person or online retailer.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default panel-bede3571ec25e2d05 fusion-toggle-no-divider fusion-toggle-boxed-mode\" style=\"--awb-title-color:var(--awb-color5);--awb-content-color:var(--awb-custom_color_1);\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\" id=\"toggle_bede3571ec25e2d05\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"bede3571ec25e2d05\" role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-3733-1\" data-target=\"#bede3571ec25e2d05\" href=\"#bede3571ec25e2d05\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box active-icon awb-icon-minus\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><i class=\"fa-fusion-box inactive-icon fa-capsules fas\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">Why are you asking me to do this?<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"bede3571ec25e2d05\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"toggle_bede3571ec25e2d05\"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/medicines-2\/medicines-optimisation\/prescribing-gluten-free-foods-in-primary-care-guidance-for-ccgs-faqs\/#will-all-ccgs-prescribe-gf-bread-and-mixes\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">NHS England\u00a0guidance (2018),<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0stated\u00a0that commissioning organisations can end the prescribing of all\u00a0gluten-free\u00a0foods if they feel this is\u00a0appropriate for\u00a0their population, while taking account of their legal duties to advance equity and have regard to reducing health inequalities.\u202f\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This change is\u00a0in\u00a0line with\u00a0other regions across England and recognises that the NHS must use the limited funding available in the best\u00a0possible way\u00a0for\u00a0their\u00a0population.\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">When gluten-free foods were initially launched, they\u00a0were considered to be\u00a0specialist\u00a0products only available on prescription.\u00a0However,\u00a0over time the food products have become\u00a0more\u00a0widely available for purchase in\u00a0food\u00a0shops\u00a0and online retailers.\u202f\u202fThe labelling of food products\u00a0has also improved over time, making it easier to\u00a0identify\u00a0gluten-free\u00a0products.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Not all people access\u00a0gluten-free\u00a0foods on prescription.
