Identify all patients currently prescribed the high-cost, high-protein oral nutritional supplements (ONS) Fortisip Compact Protein and Fresubin Protein and, where appropriate, switch them to the more cost-effective formulary alternative, Fresubin Pro Compact.
There is a need to optimize the cost-effectiveness of ONS prescribing while maintaining patient care. Switching to Fresubin Compact Pro offers a comparable nutritional profile at a significantly lower cost. This will help the Dorset NHS pound go further, and care for a greater number of patients.
